First we meet at Pershing Square. Parking is easy and only $5 with LA Conservancy validation.
Multiple tours will meet at Pershing Square so look out for the appropriate sign!
I woke up bright and early this past Saturday to take the Art Deco walking tour with LA Conservancy. Their tours are $10 per person, or $5 when you become a member. You get about 2 hours worth of informational fun, totally worth it.
American architects, inspired by the art deco furniture they saw at the Paris Exposition, incorporated this concept of art deco into architecture. Art deco buildings draw your eyes up with sculpted glass, zig zag designs and recessed windows.
Outside of the James Oviatt building.
Original light fixtures. The Oviatt Building now hosts a restaurant at the lowest floor. They were getting ready for a wedding.
Detail of the gates.
The Eastern Columbia building was built as a department store.
Johnny Depp, Frankie Muniz and John Stamos have bought units in this building. Loft prices range from $979,000 to $2 million.
Turquoise terracotta glaze with pulverized gold trim.
The terracotta glaze holds well in California weather.
The Ninth and Broadway Building with a delicate bird and flower design.

I’ve wanted to do these tours for awhile. I’m going to show your post to my husband in hopes of getting him excited and onboard to give it a shot. Your pictures are lovely and it looks like an awesome tour of LA- Especially for the price point. You can’t beat!

Yay, I’m glad my post could help. It’s true, the price can’t be beat. Let me know which tour you go on and take tons of photos!
Will do! Thanks for reminding me about the tours.
